Paremiology 2010

Colloquium in Tavira, Portugal,  November 2010

Summary of a presentation titled:

“GREAT OAKS FROM LITTLE ACORNS GROW” –

THE PORTUGUESE NATION EXPLAINED THROUGH PROVERBS.

Speaker: John HULIN, Private Individual, United Kingdom.

Attending the 2010 AIP-IAP Colloquium are delegates from many countries of the world. The opportunity will be taken to explain aspects of modern Portuguese life, both economic and cultural. Each aspect will be linked to a prominent object in and around Tavira, and supported by a proverb.  When seen again the object will prompt the visitor to know more of Portugal.

Of the industrious and generous Portuguese people it is undoubtedly true to say:  “Great Oaks From Little Acorns Grow” – “Grandes Carvalhos Crescem A Partir De Pequenas Bolotas”
